Frequently Asked Questions
-
How often does my piano need to be tuned? Usually every six to 12 months is sufficient for normal use. If your piano gets played a lot you might need more frequent tunings. Ideally your ear should be your guide. New or recently restrung pianos may need more frequent tunings for the first couple of years because the new strings are stretching. Pianos with loose tuning pins also may need more frequent tunings.
-
Why does a piano go out of tune? There are many factors which include the condition & quality of the piano, how often it is played, and environmental factors such as humidity levels or dry heat.
-
What if my piano can’t be tuned? There may be hope. When the tuning pins become loose to the point that the piano can’t be tuned there are usually options. Each piano can be assessed on its own merit and is one of the services we offer.
